The state of Assam is steeped in uncertainty, anxiety and fear as people face the threat of imprisonment in detention centres for not being able to establish their citizenship. The documentary engages with the urgent issue of “illegal foreigners” in India and the psychic burden of being forced to seek refuge in one’s own country. Nath traces the struggles of one man who is slowly losing his identity and eventually is deemed an illegal immigrant. The film explores the state of mind of a person on the verge of losing his nationality and with that, losing almost everything he has. His broken hopes cause an internal turbulence whilst the serene beauty of Assam and his humble lifestyle paint a contrast against this turmoil.
